Maybe you didn’t know the difference between caribou and moose tracks? It can be hard to tell without context and realistic size differences. Thank goodness for that product title ‘eh? However, the main difference is that caribou tracks tend to be rounded, concave and splayed out because they are constantly walking on smooshy ground, either snow or bare tundra. Also, the shape of caribou hooves is ideal for shoveling snow off of the ground to reach food in winter time. Moose tend to live in less smooshy land and browse on (that means nibble the ends of) willows and birch trees so they don’t shovel as much as caribou. Although, they will shovel with their noses to reach your garden leftovers! Moose hooves can be splayed when they walk on snow or become very large. Ungulates are great!

Made in Fairbanks, Alaska of seasoned birch bark from firewood. Cut, shaped and decorated free-hand in a little dry cabin in the woods. These earrings are are made from bark selected for durability and protected with a polymer shelac. Hooks are surgical steel (hypoallergenic).
